14 manuscripts, in multiple hands, of letters reporting information on the Jacobin movement in London. A letter labeled "Secret Information" refers to the printing of Thomas Paine's "Age of Reason," and declares that "The Master Butchers as well as as the Journeymen, have frequently abused me for a Jacobin as I passed the Market, and at present I usually avoid their compliments by going round about...Depend on it, with the exception of two or three foolish venders of Cabbages, the whole of the Carnaby Market fraternity are enthusiastically loyal to King George and Monarchichal Government." In another letter, dated Nov. 6, 1803, the writer declares, "We made a miserable appearance yesterday at the Crown & Anchor, for no more than seventeen Patriots attended to celebrate the Anniversary of Saint Hardy...The Toasts, Songs, & Conversation, during the Meeting, were extremely flat, and by no means interesting;" another letter, labeled "Spy papers," reports on a Jacobin meeting, listing the members present and toasts made. The letters are accompanied by a report of a meeting of the Freeholders Club, 1802 Mar 14, and a document concerning Sir Francis Burdett.
